About the Northshore Waterfront Gala
The North Shore Waterfront Gala is an initiative by five major waterfront terminals and the businesses that support them.
The North Shore Waterfront Gala was created to support those in need and build connections amongst people and organizations on the North Shore community. This year we have selected two charities to partner with, the Backpack Buddies which feeds hungry children in your neighbourhood and North Shore Crisis Services Society which provides emergency shelter, longer-term housing solutions, and direct service programs to women and children (+ pets) surviving violence on the North Shore.
All proceeds of the North Shore Waterfront Gala go towards organizations located on and providing services to families and children on the North Shore. We believe that an investment in the well-being of children – our future citizens, employees and leaders – is an investment in the future of our community and our businesses.
The North Shore Waterfront Gala is organized by and receives major funding from five waterfront terminals:
Following a call for proposals from local organizations, the North Shore Waterfront Gala Organizing Committee selected the following charitable partners for the 2023-2024 events. Each organization will receive an annual grant of $50,000 thanks to ticket sales, sponsorships, donations and auction proceeds.
Backpack Buddies feeds hungry children in your neighbourhood. Hungry kids often rely on school-based meal programs during the week, and then suffer in silence over weekends when meal support is scarce. Backpack Buddies fills this “weekend hunger gap” by discreetly providing bags of food directly to kids every Friday. These bags contain enough meals and snacks to last the weekend and beyond, ensuring kids return to school nourished and ready for the week ahead.
NSCSS provides emergency shelter, longer-term housing solutions, and direct service programs to women and children (+ pets) surviving violence on the North Shore. Funding from the Gala will advance life-changing housing and support services that will help more women and single-parent families rebuild their lives – happy, healthy, and free of violence.
In 2019, the Gala’s Founding Sponsors created the North Shore Waterfront Endowment Fund. All moneys raised in addition to the $100,000 allocated to the charitable partners each year will be invested in future grants for groups supporting children and youth on the North Shore, ensuring benefits for our community well into the future.
